Manthan & Solar Alternatives marks
a collaborative effort of two NGOs, both Manthan and Solar Alternatives
to promote technical education to empower the marginalized.
Manthan, is a registered
Organization under the Societies Registration Act. For the past 25
years, Manthan has been working among the most deprived sections of the
society for their all round development. The institution has been
involved in non-formal education both running NFE centers and producing
literatures as a District Resource Unit. It has a long history of fight
against injustice. Manthan also has the experience of running
vocational training like tailoring, mushroom growing, pickle and sattu
making, washing powder making, etc.
Our organization is concerned with the empowerment of the marginalized
specially the dalits. That is the reason we motivate and train poor and
dalit students for vocational and technical training in our place and
outside the state. So empowered with a trade and human training and values they can become tools and models for empowerment in the society.
Manthan & Solar Alternatives - AVI 5318,
was born with objective of empowering the marginalized through
technical and vocational training. We are also working in collaboration
with other like minded groups like St. Ann’s Sisters, Ursuline
Sisters, Nari Gunjan, For example, we have been working in
collaboration with an NGO for women – Nari Gunjan , enrolling
musahar girls in the course of cutting and tailoring.

NIOS: Academic
On an experimental basis, we enrolled
Six school drop-out dalit boys for Metric under NIOS. The boys are
enrolled through Christ Church School, Kankarbagh. They were given
intensive coaching during the period and the students appeared for exam
in May, 05. Though the boys, could not clear all the five exams, they
did pass in their next attempt.
